Frequently Asked Questions About Donating

United States: Is my donation transaction safe and secure?

Yes. We use Groundspring's Donate Now service which features Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to encrypt all data submitted to and from our site over the Web. SSL renders donors' personal information, including credit card numbers, virtually unreadable to anyone who intercepts it. SSL is supported by all major browsers, including Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. (To find out if your browser is connected to a secure transaction server, look for a solid gold key in the lower right-hand corner of a Netscape browser. For a Microsoft browser, look for a locked padlock.)

Are donor names kept confidential?

Groundspring.org never sells, trades, or rents donor information, and the Groundspring site has security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, or alteration of donor and donation data. Additionally, donors have the option to give anonymously.

Do donors receive receipts when they make a donation via the Donate Now button?

When a donor makes a contribution and the credit card is verified, a tax receipt is automatically e-mailed to the donor acknowledging the contribution for tax purposes. This e-mail also thanks the donor for their contribution and includes a thank you message.

What kind of credit card fraud protection is available with Donate Now?

DonateNow 2.0 features new fraud protection at the time the donation is made. This is in response to the concern over credit card fraud which continues to grow in the Internet. In particular, Groundspring verifies credit card donations by requiring the "Card Security Code," a three-digit code on the back of most cards.

What happens if I receive an error message about my credit card and cannot complete the purchase?

The transactions are performed real-time, so if there is an error with your credit card, it may be due to the credit card status, not the Donation process. First, check to ensure all free text entries are typed correctly and free of any error. If that does not work, try again with a different credit card. Groundspring will not be able to determine the reason why your credit card was declined, so those questions can be directed toward your credit card company.
